Home we go

I awoke to find my dad was already awake reading his book. As soon as I awoke my parents broke out into full activity and started to pack up. It didn't take too long and, sadly, we left the flat around 10:30.

We stopped in Ambleside so my dad could get loads of bath buns, and my mum could go shopping. We then stopped at Ambleside's garden centre where we saw wonderful Christmas decorations.

We then left the Lake District but, not for long. We stopped off at Carnforth to see a rather famous train station. This station was used in a film called 'Brief encounter'. It wasn't really my thing so, I fell asleep.

When I awoke we were just leaving the motorway and heading into Stoke. The traffic was pretty bad but dad did say that the M6 was pretty clear.

We finally got home around 5pm. Mum and dad emptied the car whereas I got to play around the house. My dad then went out for fish and chips... Which were lovely!

So another holiday ends. I had a brilliant time and I cannot wait until the next one.

Keswick ... Again

Yesterday evening mum and dad were peering over maps and discussing what we were going to do today. I got into the car all excited.

Keswick! Again! Oh no, more shops, I thought. Actually it wasn't. Two days ago when we came we went to the Derwent however, it was too late to start walking around it. Today we had come back and, as I saw my mum and dad prepare, it looked like we were finishing our trip of the lakes with a proper walk.

The path was pushchair friendly and we had a superb view of the lake. Mum pushed me at first, then let me out so I could walk and play with stones. Dad went off to take some photos. The walk was lovely if a little cool. The weather was amazing! We went along the edge of the lake before heading on a board walk through woodlands. We finally got to where the path became non-pushchair friendly. Once there, we found a bench with a lovely old couple. We had a wonderful chat while having lunch, looking over the Derwent ... It was wonderful.

All too soon we headed back to the car ... But then past it. We of course went shopping. It looked like dad was fed up with shops too therefore we just walked around the town. The days walk had been brilliant therefore I fell asleep quickly. Apparently mum and dad went for a hot chocolate and cake at Bryon's.

When I awoke mum was buying me some new Wellington's. I tried them on and walked around the tiddly winks store. I liked the dinosaurs on them. With that we went back to the car.

The drive home was in the pitch black. I therefore just played with my toys.

Once back we ordered a Chinese for dinner and picked it up. We finished off our holiday watching Ghost.

I had loved my holiday and can't wait to come back!

Lazy day in

I wish my parents had told me that we were having a lazy day in. If they had, I wouldn't have woken up at 7am. Still we all got up and got ready.

I understood why we were having the day in as I saw the rain fall outside of the window. It didn't look too bad to me.

Actually we did go out. I was put into my car seat with rain drops hitting me in the face. I am not sure if it was the warmth of the car but, as my dad drove to Hawkshead I fell asleep. I was then rudely woken soon after in the car park. I wouldn't have minded if we were going to a park or a swing but ... It was more shops. Still we didn't stay long; mum got some chuckney and then we left before the rain got harder.

We then drove to Coniston however, we stayed in the car until the heaviest rain passed. There is not a lot going on in Coniston. Mum had a look around a few more shops before we headed home.

For some reason I was extremely tired. Holidays take a lot of energy therefore I slept for 3 hours while mum and dad, snoozed, read books and played games. I awoke around 5pm full of beans. As a family we watched Chicago and a weird film called the girl with the dragon tattoo ...not my type of film at all. It was now 11:45 and I was still very much awake. Mum and dad turned all the lights off and went to bed. I therefore had no choice. I got my head down and fell asleep too!

Grasmere and Keswick

I may have read the signs wrong but, I felt mum and dad loved being woken up early therefore, this morning, I did it again!

The weather was yet again beautiful. We left early but didn't drive far. We stopped in Grasmere for a lovely walk around the town. I knew waking mum and dad up at 7am was what they wanted when they thanked me by taking me to Grasmere's park. As I swung back and forth, I could see mountains all around ...it was beautiful. Dad push me on the swing while mum went shopping. I actually fell asleep within the swing. I was then taken back to the car and off we went to Keswick.

I awoke on the way to lake Derwent. Apparently, while I had been asleep, mum and dad had driven to Keswick, parked and had a lovely lunch in the King's Arms. The weather had also turned. Though not raining, it was cold and overcast. We didn't walk around the lake though I heard my dad say that he wanted to come back.

Fortunately we didn't look in many boring shops. Soon we hit the road back to Ambleside. Mum fell asleep in the car whereas dad and I chatted a lot. Once in the flat we watched bohemian rhapsody while eating booths sausages ... It was great. I through my fruit on the mat below my chair ... Just so I could eat more sausages.

I went to sleep at around 9pm completely tired. Mum and dad played some cool games again.

My family's history

Having slept in late yesterday, I decided to wake my parents up at 6am to make the most of our day. Both of my parents seemed to be getting ready very slowly. To wake them up, I decided to get my favourite musical book and play the same song repeatedly.

Today we went to Brockhole house. However, first of all we had to wait in the car for 20 minutes until it opened. Brockhole had some wonderful walks. I would get on my knees, let my mum walk away with the pushchair before I got up and ran towards her. I always won the race.

As we continued around the forested paths, I loved walking and looking out towards lake Windermere. Also I discovered that my family had been here many times ... Including Richard who had spent 7 hours here once! With their walks and playground, I could see why.

Once we had finished walking we returned to the car. On the way back to the car I fell asleep and woke up at wray castle. We went for another walk along the bank of the opposite side of lake Windermere to this morning. The weather was perfect; a beautiful sunny day. It was cold but I had my large coat on. I was happy playing with stones but, after 15 minutes my dad picked me up and put me in the pushchair. We finished the walk, dropped the car off at the flat and walked into Ambleside again.

My dad got his hair cut whereas mum and I went to the park. Annoyingly, dad was really quick so we had to go after 10 swings and go to do some silly shopping! I got my feet measured(4 1\2) which I hated. Mum and dad bought a white hot chocolate and a Cornish pasty. Finally dad and mum bought a game called photosynthesis from a lovely local game shop. It wasn't all bad; I got some chopped wooden vegetables as my holiday present.

Back at the flat we watched Notting hill while eating pasta. I then went to bed to allow mum and dad time to play their new game.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

Food shopping

As this was our first day, I decided to sleep in until the late time of 7:30am which, both my parents seemed overjoyed about.

Even though I had been kind this morning, I still found myself entering a supermarket called booths. Listening to my dad, apparently this was a special supermarket only found in the lake District. It didn't bother me ... It was still a supermarket! I gave my mum a good 30 minutes before I started to show signs of being fed up.

Back at the car, 3 bags full of delicious food was being loaded into the boot of the car. I thought that we were going home however, my mum had other plans. We decided to head down to Barrowness where there were loads of people; so many that all the free parking was taken.

Today was market day therefore, we had a look around buying some flapjack which I heard my parents state that it was 'okay'. We had a quick look around Barrowness before I was allowed to walk back to the car.

Once back at the flat I had a good sleep while my mum and dad read and relaxed. As I awoke the sky was getting dark therefore I settled down to a quiet night in. My parents however had other ideas. Before I knew it we were off on a freezing walk to Ambleside so my dad could take some sunset photos across the lake. After this my parents continued to walk into Ambleside. I thought they had gone crazy as surely all shops would have been shut. It wasn't long before Ambleside's Christmas lights came into full view. I was very impressed and loved just looking at all the decorations.

Once back at the flat my parents had a very hot curry whereas I had Japanese rice while watching Hamilton win the F1. Mum and I had a bath. I must have used all the hot water as mum had a freezing cold shower afterwards. It had been a long day therefore I went to sleep whereas my parents watched forest gump. A good film apparently.

To the Lakes!

As I looked outside the lounge window, I could see my dad going back and forth to the car carrying a large amount of bags. I am only small therefore, I guess most of it was mum and dad's.

As I got down all by myself - getting great at climbing - I new exactly what was going on. The question was; where would we be going. I decided to make it easy on my dad. I stayed awake for as long as I could, until 1pm. As I slept I guessed that he finished packing the car.

I awoke at 3:15pm to see hands coming towards me. It was my grandparents, who I hadn't seen for a week! I said hello and goodbye in one wave of my hand as my dad put me into the car. We went to my mum's work and before you knew it, we were driving very quickly on a busy road.

It got dark very quickly. Due to my sleep at home, I wasn't tired. I sat looking at the rain and car lights outside the window. I didn't know this but, we were only 15 minutes away from our destination when I became grumpy. I mean; I had been sat in a car for just over 2 hours ... Surely both mum and dad were grumpy too!

As it was pitch black I still wasn't sure where we were. It was only when I was walking around the flat that I remembered. I was in the lake District! I think my mum and dad had hoped that I would be going to sleep soon however, being as excited as I was I couldn't sleep until 9:30pm. Instead I climbed on the sofa, the fireplace and I tried to touch the TV however, dad had constructed a barrier preventing me from doing so.

Dad unpacked the car and put most of the stuff away. Soon after a pizza man arrived with two soughdough pizzas; one BBQ chicken and the other pork. It was nice!

All of us, being tired, then went to sleep.

So the holiday has started. I can't wait for tomorrow.

Easter Hols in Whitby

Friday 27th March 2026 - Dad usually finished work at 5pm… not 1pm. Something was a foot! What’s more, bags were packed and the roof top box...
