It was just a normal day. Mum had taken the car to work so I knew a holiday wasn’t on the cards this week. I therefore had a long sleep and woke at 5:15pm when mum returned… I was wrong!
As soon as mum came home dad started packing the car. This time things were different. Dad was trying to reduce the amount we took and mum wanted just a few more bags. The result. The car was slightly less full. I was put in my chair and off we went at 6:30pm. Being so late we wouldn’t go far, I thought to myself. I was wrong again!
We drove for hours up a road called the M6 and passed a big board with a white cross on a light blue background. We eventually stopped at Lockerbie services Days Inn hotel. The time was 10pm. The lady on reception was lovely but, I couldn’t understand a word (mum said get used to it). We got in our lovely room where mum and dad went straight to sleep. I stayed up until midnight making as much noise as possible.
